Graveside services for Don C. Houk, 95, of Longview will be held at Ten o'clock am Tuesday November 11, 2008 at Rosewood Park Cemetery with Chaplain Dottie Bachtell officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Houk passed away Saturday November 8, 2008 in Longview.
He was born January 22, 1913 in Pine, Missouri to Charles Aron and Sirena Lomax Houk. Mr. Houk had lived in Longview the past 17 years moving here from Claremore, Oklahoma. Mr. Houk was a Development Engineer for Conoco Phillips and retired on February 1, 1976 after 38 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, he also volunteered at meals on wheels, he was a master gardener, a member of the Spin Drift sailing Club. He was a early riser and loved making pancakes. He was a go getter and loved to travel, he also was a supporter of and enjoyed the Longview symphony very much.
He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Houk of Longview, son-in-law, Conley Deen of Longview, grandchildren David Deen and wife Marie of Willis, TX.; Cathy McGough and husband Patrick of Lubbock, TX.; Ginger Oxsheer and husband Robert of Longview, Kimberly Deen of Longview, great-grandchildren, Jessica McGough and Fiancée Mike Fagan, Christina Gray and husband Dave, Rebecca Oxsheer, Jennifer Oxsheer, Kelly Oxsheer, brothers, Charles Noel Houk and wife Louise of Aurora, CO.; Dr. Harold Houk and wife Sheri of Bellingham, WA.
He was preceded in death by his wife Airadean Houk, daughter Patricia "Pat" Deen, his beloved dog "Dandy" parents Charles Aron and Sirena Lomax Houk, brother, Marvin Houk, sisters, Gladys Turner and Elaine Houk.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday November 10, 2008 6-8pm.
