Mrs. Dinah Jo Allen Morgan's Obituary
Dinah Jo Allen Morgan, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, has gone to be with the Lord after a hard fought battle with kidney cancer. She was born on August 30, 1969 in Carthage, Texas and passed away December 14, 2013 in Longview.
Dinah was a dedicated Elementary school teacher in the East Texas area, most recently in the Longview and White Oak school districts. Dinah began her teaching career in 1992 at Hillsboro ISD, then taught at Pine Tree in 1993. In 1994, she taught at Carver Elementary in Marshall. From 1996 to 2013, she taught at Valley View, Mozelle Johnston, and Johnston McQueen. Dinah was awarded Teach of the Year in 2007. She has been a lead teacher, teacher trainer, and served on numerous committees. She will be most remembered for her loving patience with children, her care and concern, and her light-hearted entertainment of her co-workers.
Dinah married the love of her life, Kenneth L. (Kenny) Morgan, Jr. on July 10, 1993. They have two beautiful children – Brett and Meredith.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful friends that have supported them throughout this time from Greggton United Methodist Church, Longview teachers, White Oak teachers, and the White Oak community. We especially want to thank Nicole Bischoff for the special care and attention she gave Dinah over these past few months. Also, the staff at Good Shepherd’s Oncology unit provided excellent care for her and her family.
Dinah was preceded in death by her father, Murray Lane Allen. She is survived by her husband, Kenny; her children Brett and Meredith of White Oak; her mother, Sondra Jo Allen of Longview; her sisters – Melissa Baumgardner, and her husband, David of Maud, Tx; and Virginia Rincones, and her husband, Javier of Live Oak, Tx; niece, Anna Baumgardner, and nephew, Sam Baumgardner; aunt and uncle Lola Ann and E. J. Hubacek of Pritchett, Tx; cousins Alan Kennemer of East Meadow, NY and Christie Kennemer Cooper of Sachse, Tx.
Memorial donations can be made to a scholarship fund to be established in Dinah’s name, or Greggton United Methodist Church Building Fund, or HeartsWay Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Stuart Nipper, Denny Larrison, Freddie Stahl, Scott Sullins, Gary Moore, Cooter Kirkindoll, Jason Jones, and Eric Stith.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Ricks officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park.
