Dr. David Lee Sadler's Obituary
David Lee Sadler, born the son of a farmer on June 27, 1948 took a remarkable work ethic and degree of focus to Texas A&M University in 1966, after finishing as salutatorian at Alba Golden High School.
At Texas A&M, he was a walk on to the Freshman basketball team, a freshman member of the Corps of cadets, with a pre medicine focus, academically. He would eventually concentrate all of his focus, preparing for Medical school.
In 1970, he enrolled at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. After graduating, he began his general surgery residency in San Angelo, TX in 1978. With a calling to specialize in Cardio Vascular & Thoracic Surgery, he moved back to Dallas in 1984 to begin his training.
He took this specialized practice of medicine to Longview, TX in 1987 to begin the city's first heart program with Jay Chastain at Good Shepard Medical Center.
This team of David, Jay, Frank, Barbara, Sharon and all Good Shepherd Staff cared for many East Texans for the next 27 years of David's life.
While never ceasing to practice medicine, he would in his later years reconnect with his farm roots by restoring the grounds of his 25 acre homestead on the corner of HG Mosley and McCann Rd. will always be an enduring reminder of his vision, focus, and commitment to his life's work and all he served.
