Darrell Alexander Mock's Obituary
Funeral services for Darrell A. Mock, 91, of Longview will be held at 2 PM Friday, January 27, 2012 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Rev. Charles Barham and Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Burial will be at 2 PM Monday, January 30 in Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma. Mr. Mock passed away Monday morning surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Darrell was born on July 4, 1920 in Byron, Oklahoma to Daniel and Callie Mock. After high school, he attended Oklahoma Baptist University from 1938-1942. After college Mr. Mock enlisted and he proudly served his country in the US Air Force during WWII. Mr. Mock married the love of his life, Norma Lea Mock on June 22, 1945. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary from 1947-1951 and then he began a life of service to the Lord. He served as Minister of Music and Education at First Baptist Church in Big Spring, TX; First Baptist Church, Palestine, TX; Cedar Crest Baptist Church, and Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. They also served as missionaries for 25 years at Tokyo Baptist Church, in Tokyo, Japan; and during retirement he was very involved at First Baptist Church, Enid, Oklahoma and Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview, Texas.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Geneva Odessa Labenski.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Norma Lea Thomas Mock; sons and daughters-in-law, Jon Randall "Randy" Mock and his wife Carrie of Annandale, VA, and Alan Kendall Mock and his wife Judy of Hallsville, Texas; and four grandchildren, Katherine Michelle Mock, Ashleigh Noel Mock, Bethany Lea Ross, and Lucas Kendall Mock; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
