Darlette Jean Saxon's Obituary
Darlette McCain Saxon, 87, passed away peacfully on August 6th. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Milton Saxon, and her dear brother Jim McCain (Betty) of Calallen, Texas. Also surviving are daughters Tana Shipman of Clayton, California and Jill Saxon of Lorena, Texas, son Brad Saxon and wife Cynthia of Gladewater, Texas, grandsons Brett, Clay (Izabela) and Wade Shipman of Walnut Creek, California, granddaughter Chelsea Tate Copeland (Spencer) of Houston, Texas, great-grandsons Connor and Braden Shipman and Dillon Copeland.
Darlette was born January 5, 1930 in Banquete, Texas. She and her husband, Milton, met in college at Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas. Prior to moving to Longview is 1973, the Saxons lived in Elgin, Texas where Mr. Saxon was Superintendent of Schools for 7 years. Both were very active in the Longview community and in the First United Methodist Church of Longview.
Darlette was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Faye McCain and her son Mack Sterling Saxon.
The family is very grateful for the loving care provided by Harbor House at Buckner Westminster Place and by Traditions Hospice Care.
Visitation will be Friday, August 11th from 5 to 7pm at Rader Funeral Home, Longview. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 10:00am at the First United Methodist Church of Longview.
