Dan G. Graham's Obituary
Daniel Gregory Graham, 82, of White Oak, Texas, passed away on May 20th, 2024 at his home, surrounded by family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 25th at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 PM.
Dan was born in Fulton, Mississippi to Paul and Myrtle Graham on May 21st, 1941. He graduated from Nettleton High School in Mississippi, where his football team won the state championship. He married Mary Jane Oswalt on November 26th, 1959. He played football for Memphis State University, where he graduated with a BS in Biology. He went on to attain a master’s degree in Special Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. He worked as an Athletic Director, football coach, and teacher for Pine Tree and Spring Hill school districts in a career spanning from 1963 until his retirement in 1997. He served as liaison for Coaches Outreach for many years. His achievements include Longview News-Journal Coach of the Year, winningest coach in the history of Pine Tree, and second winningest coach at Spring Hill ISD. He was recently recognized by the Pine Tree ISD Education Foundation at the 2024 Pirate of the Pines for the difference he has made as an educator. Dan was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church for over 40 years. In addition to his immense love of his family, Dan enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially caring for his animals and teaching his grandchildren to ride horses.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Myrtle Graham, his sisters Sandra and Mary Paul, and brother Ronald.
Dan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane Graham, his daughter Stephanie Danielle - husband Kenneth Ziegelbauer, son Aaron Clay Graham - wife Grace Aguila-Graham, daughter Amy Jane - husband James Bonamy, sisters Martha Bishop and Betty - husband Jack Laney, grandchildren: Randee Jane - husband Aaron Dyer, Micah Danielle - husband Billy Nix, James Daniel, Jessi Ann, Paul Graham Bonamy - wife Danica, Sal Joseph, Aaron Oswalt, Rex Gregory, and great-grandchildren: Abigail Jane, Aaron Paul, Rowan Daniel, Leighton Beth, Kristina Kay, and Crew James.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
