Pat was born on December 5, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to Maureen and Dave Owens. He married Andrea (Foster) Owens on April 1, 1977. In 1975, he joined the Elderville-Lakeport Volunteer Fire Department and loved the fire field so much he was hired on July 31, 1977, at Longview Fire Department. Pat worked at several stations in the City of Longview but spent the majority of his 29 years at Station 3 where he retired as a Captain in December 2006.
Pat trained and mentored many firefighters all over the state and Canada. Pat was still the volunteer fire chief at Elderville-Lakeport until he passed away. He obtained his instructor’s certificate and lectured at many conferences throughout the state. He worked seasonally with the Texas Forest Service and during the 2003 recovery of the Space Shuttle Columbia. He enjoyed flying single engine planes, gardening, and riding motorcycles in addition to firefighting. Pat became a Master Mason on January 26, 1984, with the Danville Masonic Lodge #101 and in 1996 became a 32° Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Waco.
Surviving are his wife, Andrea of Longview, Texas, daughters, Stephanie (Scott) Moore and Jessica (Derek) Walton, grandchildren Tayler, Avery, Maverick, Lindsey, Forrest, Alexandra, Trent and several great-grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and son.
