On behalf of the ETX Council of Govts' Public Safety Division, Stephanie Heffner Director, Donetta Miller & I wish to offer our MOST Sincere Condolences to ALL Pat's Nearest & Dearest, during this time.
Losing Bro. Pat is especially hard on me, personally. My late, great ole Daddy was 1 of the founders of the E'ville/L'port VFD in 1967. In the late '70s - early '80s, I was at L'view PD, & we met when he joined LFD. I "skipped the country" for more than 20 yrs., but, was THRILLED to find Pat as Fire Chief.
What Jack & others have said here is absolutely TRUE. Truly dedicated & devoted Public Servants who were Chosen & Called are running fewer & further between these days, despite being in such a "Sacred Space" as E. TX.
Nevertheless, the stories I could tell of crazy spots I put him in over our last 17 years as Co-Servants, are too many & funny to tell.
When he called, forewarning me that he was set to retire, I was in genuine denial, as I can't imagine living without 1 of my 2 "Best Buds". BUT, I got a "glimpse" at the MASSIVE & AMAZING Welcome he received in Heaven & decided to stop feeling sorry for myself & Rejoice for him.
I PRAY this may be SOME Kind of Comfort, Strength &/or Encouragement or Assurance for any other(s).
Blessings Abundant!
