Charles was born July 2, 1935, to James E. and Gladys L. White in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He passed on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 17, 2023. His adolescent years were spent in the Oklahoma City area where his dad worked as a butcher. Charles graduated Capitol Hill High School and followed his father’s footsteps into the grocery industry. He met the love of his life, Kathryn Clark, and they were married on December 17, 1955. Charles also served four years in the Air Force Reserve during his time in Oklahoma.
Charles and Kathryn lived in Oklahoma until he got promoted to Route Salesman for Southwest Saw Corporation in the Ft. Worth, Texas area. Charles worked his way up the organization and later became President of Southwest Saw Corporation and moved to Houston, Texas where he retired in August 1998.
Charles enjoyed a wide variety of things in his life but sharing the Gospel with others brought him the most joy. He loved hunting, fishing, watching sports, spending time with family and friends, and attending his children and grandchildren’s events. Never short for a smile or good laugh, Charles was always a pleasure to be around. He is a natural friend maker that never met a stranger. Charles loved his church, Oakland Heights Baptist Church, and served in many capacities including various committees, Deacon Chairman, Personnel Chairman, Grounds, Sunday School Leader, Texas Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief Team and many more.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys White, sisters Melvina Irene Melton and Betty Jane Cassell and his beloved daughter, Cynthia Ann Martin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the East Texas Alzheimer's Alliance at etxalz.org or the East Texas Disaster Relief Fund through Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center, Buckner Westminster and Whispering Pines Lodge in Longview, TX.
