A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles J. “Charlie” Schnetzer, 89, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Mark Dunn officiating. There will be a Rosary recited at 9:30 at the church prior to the service. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Charles was born on April 9, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY and after high school he proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy aboard the USS Sims, destroyer escort #154. Charlie was a long time member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He loved the NY Giants, Boston Red Sox, his Model A car, wood working and working in his shop, and a good game of poker. He played poker weekly with his friends and went out with a win, having won the last game they played last week. Above all that, Mr. Schnetzer loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were the light of his life and they all knew it.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Norma Jean Schnetzer; Dwayne Watts; his parents, brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 15 years, Sandra Watts Schnetzer; his children Anna Maria Johnson, Paul John Schnetzer, Ed Watts and his wife Vickie, Debbie Harris and her husband Guy, and Paige Watts; his grandchildren Jesse Ponder and his wife Chandra, Carl Johnson and his wife Johnna, Rachael Harris and her husband Barnie, Joseph Schnetzer, Sara Schnetzer-Stokley and her husband Alan, Blake Harris, Bryan Harris, Clint Watts, and Beth Watts; great grandchildren Mason, Seth, Cheyler (C.J.), Alexander, Samantha, Carson, Rowan, and Harmony; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends; and by his little buddy, Max.
