Charles Donald Pentecost Sr.'s Obituary
Services for Charles D. Pentecost, Sr. 79, of Hallsville are scheduled for 1pm Monday, May 19, 2014 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with Pastor John Wallingford of Macedonia Baptist Church officiating. A private burial will follow in the Hallsville Cemetery.
Mr. Pentecost passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Tyler, Texas.
He was born on September 30, 1934, in Jena, Louisiana. Mr. Pentecost moved to Texas soon after graduating from Jena High School in 1952. He worked many years as a roofer before being hired by Schlitz Brewery in 1967. In 1980, Mr. Pentecost acquired H & C Sheet Metal and Roofing Company, where he worked alongside his son Charles Pentecost Jr, and wife Joyce until he became ill in late 2013.
Mr. Pentecost was preceded in death by his mother Marie Pentecost in 1967, and sister Katherine Hardy in 2007. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Pentecost; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Dianna Grigsby of Longview; son Chuck Pentecost of Longview; daughter and son-in-law Cyndi and Bill Elmer of Tyler; and daughter and son-in-law Gaye and Ray Jones of Tyler. Mr. Pentecost was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mr. Pentecost left behind dear friends in the Senior Sunday School class at Macedonia Baptist Church and the Hallsville Dairy Queen Coffee Club.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Jason Grigsby, Mathew Grigsby, Derrick Grigsby, Preston Pentecost, Blake Elmer, Stuart Elmer, Thomas Elmer, Brian Durand, and Daniel Durand.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
