Charles A. Markee
Memorial services for Charles A. Markee, 81, of Hallsville, will be held at 4 PM Friday, January 2, 2004 at the Rosewood Park Mausoleum. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2003 in a Longview hospital.
Mr. Markee was born March 24, 1922 in Calais, Maine to Hazen and Florence Markee, and had been a resident of Hallsville since July of 2003, moving from Hutchinson, Kansas. He attended high school in Calais, Maine, and was a graduate of the University of Maine. He was a retired plant manager for the Packaging Corporation of America, a division of Tenneco, after 35 years service. Mr. Markee was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, having attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He served in the Pacific Theater in the First Calvary Division, and landed on the beaches of the Philipines, and was a military policeman in Japan. Mr. Markee was also a member of the American Legion, and a former member of AMBUCS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Jacqueline Pike Markee. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Hazen Charles Markee, II of Newfane, NY, Linda Markee Knecht of Ames, Iowa, and Patricia Markee Taber of Hallsville; grandchildren, Michelle Markee Wishowski, Charles A. Markee II, Sarah Markee Long, Bryan David Knecht, Travis Michael Taber, Daniel Matthew Taber, and Nathaniel David Taber; and 6 great grandchildren; and her sister, Jean McCann of Meriden, CT.
