What a joy you were to work with all those years ago. I wish I could remember the nickname you gave me. It always made my day when you said it. You were such a fun man to talk to and I loved hearing the stories you shared about when you first started at the paper as a boy. God Bless You Mr. Leo, you were an icon here in Longview. If I ever ran into you around town or saw you in passing at a stoplight, it brightened my day. Enjoy Heaven and your new walk because I know they welcomed you with opened arms. You were a great man.

I worked with Leo thirty years ago at the Longview News. What a wonderful man! I thought of him many times through the years.
I was a young single mother who sold ads during the day and brought my children from the daycare in the evenings while I would layout ads. Leo and Cotton took my boys under their wing and helped me with them while I worked. Leo would also invite us to come out to his farm so my boys had a chance to enjoy a bit of country life. I have always held him dear in my heart and am sorry to hear of his passing. What a blessing he was!

I remember my sister and brother and I sitting out back and talking with him while he smoked his cigars. That smell always makes me think of him. I know they never seemed to mind us treating their yard like an extension of our grandmother's yard.
Mr. Hart you will be sorely missed by the Davis family.

I don't have a particular memory. There were so many memories of Leo and Eva Jo, as they lived next door to my Daddy's parents until my Grandmother moved in with my parents...about 40 years. Leo just always had that mischievous grin. He was so loyal to the newspaper and so proud of his wife and children and grandchildren. He was thrifty and once told my brother he saved half of every check he got. He loved all his family and was so kind to my grandparents. Leo and Eva Jo were regulars at my grandparents house for Thursday night wrestling for so many years. I remember him coming to Mamaw and Papaw's house the day I brought my two oldest children home after their birth. He was a good friend and I have loving memories. To his daughter Cindy and his grandchildren, my deepest sympathy.
