We are so sorry we were unable to be with you at this time of your loss. You and Carroll hold a special place in our hearts and have so since 1953 when we were Freshmen together at ACU. The memories of visiting you in the hutments after you got married and not being able to turn around without bumping into each other makes me laugh today. Carroll was a co-worker at Mobley with my mother, June Hedges. She now lives in Texas City near my sister. All of us thought the world of Carroll and join you in your loss. He was the type of an individual that once you met, shook hands, you became his friend.

Even though I've never met you, I've heard your names through the years as I was married to John Charles Plaster who passed away 4 1/2 years ago. You must be in such shock, not having a chance to say goodbye, thinking you were just on your way to surgery, not to death and all its ramifications. Praise God Carroll was one of His! I am so sorry to learn of your loss but we know Mr. Phillips has gone home to God where he smiles for eternity. We will all miss Mr. Phillips' teachings, coachings and most of all, his love of life. He was an inspiration to everyone and as a Dad and Husband, he definitely knew how to love.

Weldon left me a voice message for me Friday and I didn't know about Carroll until I talked to Wade. Even though I had not seen you for many years, I kept up through Jack and Jean. Carroll was like another big brother when I was growing up and all of you would come to Ennis to see Mother and Daddy.
One of the neatest memories was when Carroll and Weldon came to Ennis one weekend during their freshman year. Ennis was playing Mt.Pleasant that Friday night in football and we all went to the game. Carroll and Weldon sat on the Ennis side with us. During the game, Carroll would boo Ennis and yell for the Tigers. When people looked at us, he kept pointing at me and saying I was the one who did it. He told the crowd I was the "8 year old traitor".
