Brooks Lanier Deese's Obituary
Graveside services for Brooks Lanier Deese, 90, of Longview, will be held at 10 AM Friday, October 13, 2017, in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel. Mr. Deese passed away Tuesday morning in Longview. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9-10 AM prior to the service at Rosewood Park Mausoleum. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Brooks was born in Summerfield, Louisiana on February 20, 1927 to Grover and Audrey Deese. He proudly served our country during WWII in the United States Army as a Staff Sargent and later in the National Guard. He was married to the love of his life, Mildred Gaston Deese, on August 22, 1947. Mr. Deese retired from Sun Oil Co. after 33 years. After retirement, He and Mildred loved to travel. Together they made it to all but a few of the lower 48, and loved Colorado and the mountains. He loved fishing, tracking and recording the weather, was an avid reader, and a very accomplished woodworker. He loved making bowls and was known for making beautiful things. Above all else, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Deese; his parents; 1 sister and I brother.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Tommie and Candra Deese; granddaughters Crystal Deese McBride and husband Steve, and Brooke Deese Nicholls and husband Mike; Great grandchildren Jaxson McBride, Marshall Nicholls and Megan Nicholls; niece Kay Holmes and husband Caroll, and nephew Gary Farrar and wife Carolyn.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
