Bro. Johnnie Lewis Davis
Funeral Services for Bro. Johnnie Lewis Davis, 78, of Big Sandy will be held at 10 AM Monday, April 14, 2003 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Evangelist Dennis Erwin and Bro. Mike Bassett officiating. Entombment will follow in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum.
Bro. Davis was born on May 20, 1924 in Gilmer to Alton and Opal Davis. He went home to be with his Lord on Saturday afternoon, April 10, 2003 at his residence.
He served as Pastor for Pine Acres Baptist Church in Gilmer and had previously served at Open Door Baptist Church, Gospel Light Baptist Church in Longview, and 20 years as Associate Pastor with Roloff Enterprises.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bro. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Calvin Leon Davis, and Frayne Darrell Davis, and one sister, Betty Jo Bowden. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Aunita Harroun Davis of Big Sandy, daughters and son-in-law, Janice A. Davis of Houston, Johnita E. Matkins and Edmund of Houston, sons and daughter-in-law, Byron A. Davis of Big Sandy, Denzil A. Davis and Marsha of Houston, granddaughters, Alwanda Moore, Ashley L. Davis, grandsons, Troy Cooper, Chris Davis, Dustin Davis, Denzil Davis II, Brent Davis, Clinton Matkins, eight great grandchildren, sister, Annie Lee Billingsley of Longview, and brother, Bryan W. Davis of Wylie.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Sunday evening, April 13, 2003 at the funeral home.
