Bob Wallace's Obituary
Bobby Glenn “Bob” Wallace, 79, of Longview, Texas went to be with the Lord on July 15th. He passed away at home surrounded by his family after losing his battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on October 25, 1934 to Allie Mae Rawlinson and Garland Ray Wallace. He was raised in Wright City and graduated from Arp High School in 1953. Bob served in the Korean War before he returned to college and received an accounting degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.
He married Shirley Sue Brister on August 6, 1960. After spending his early career in Dallas, TX with Frito-Lay Corporation, he moved his family to Longview, where he worked for 23 years with Marathon LeTourneau as Sr. Vice President. In 1986 he accepted a position as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Blue Bird School Bus Corporation in Fort Valley, Georgia. He also served on the advisory committee for Merrill-Lynch Capital Partners in New York. He retired back to Longview in 1999 after 13 years with Blue Bird.
In retirement, he enjoyed serving as an elder for Elmira Cumberland Presbyterian Church, working and serving on the board at Camp Gilmont, and serving Meals on Wheels. He studied the Bible and enjoyed the ministry of J Vernon McGee. He used every opportunity to witness to others about Christ. He also delighted in watching his children and grandchildren participate in their various sports and school activities. He was an avid supporter of the Billy Graham Association, Boys Town, and many other organizations that served to reach people for Christ.
He is preceded in death by his mother Allie Mae and father Garland Ray Wallace. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Shirley Sue Brister Wallace; his daughter Cindy Wallace Sullivan and her husband Marty Sullivan, their children Zachary Terry, Jessie CheyAnne Sullivan, and Marty Sullivan, Jr. all of Diana; His son Glenn Ray Wallace and his wife Amanda Lewis Wallace, their children Jackson, Grant, Lake and Colt Wallace all of Colleyville; His daughter Susan Wallace Noon and her husband Wayne Noon, their children Rylee and Reid Noon all of Longview. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Wallace Standard of Longview, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as numerous friends and business associates. A visitation will be held at Radar Funeral Home on Judson Road in Longview, today, Friday, July 18, 2014 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Elmira Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Longview at 11:00 AM on Saturday, 7/19/14. Graveside services will be held that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at McKnight Cemetery in Cushing, Texas.
