Blake Bryant Bailey died of natural causes at age 44 on August 27 while on assignment evaluating storm damage in Michigan. His permanent address was 638 Town Oaks Circle, Kilgore, Texas. Blake was born in Fort Worth, Texas on June 30, 1970 to Blake Henry Bailey and Eddie Bailey Brown. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1988 where he lettered in football. Blake graduated from Baylor University in 1994 with a BBA and later graduated from Texas State University in 2005 with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, with a duel major in mathematics. Blake is survived by his parents: Eddie Bailey Brown of Henderson and Blake Henry Bailey of Tyler; Step Mother: Nan Bailey of Tyler; Step Father: Bill Brown of Henderson; Sister: Carey McElyea of Kilgore; Sister: Laura Bailey Shulenberger of Tyler; Sister: Katherine Bailey of Tyler; Nephew: Landon McElyea; Niece: Bailey Shulenberger; and numerous Uncles, Aunts and Cousins.
Blake chose the path least traveled and spent much of his adult life in South and Central America. His residence was a 72’ Morgan sailboat. He walked the beaches and observed sea turtles as they came to shore to lay eggs. He was a writer and artist and an inspiration to all who knew him for his fearless, yet gentle and spiritual approach to life. Members of his extended family and friends from around the world feel the emptiness left behind with his departure.
Funeral services will be held Monday September 1st at 2:00pm in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Henderson, Texas; Visitation at 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Sunday, August 31st.
Memorial contributions to be made in lieu of flowers at the discretion of the donor.
