Billy R. Payne's Obituary
Billy R. Payne passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at 9:15 a.m. after a battle with cancer. He was born January 10, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana and lived in Longview since 1975.
Mr. Payne is a veteran of the Vietnam War and worked for the National Security Agency while serving four years in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his tour of duty he attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1973.
He is a former Vice President with First Federal Savings and Loan and has been a member of the Longview Board of Realtors as a Broker and Real Estate Appraiser for 28 years. Mr. Payne served with different civic organizations over the years and dearly loved the community of Longview.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Cristy Zimmers Payne; daughters, Michelle Larkey and Alicia Payne; son, Matt Payne; grandchildren, Brandon and Kevin Larkey; parents, Dick and Dorothy Payne; the most wonderful mother and father-in-law, Richard and Gaynell Zimmers; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie and Donna Payne; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Steven Crank, Paul and Tammy Zimmers and Butch Weatherby.
Mr. Payne loved the Lord and is a former member of New Beginnings Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church and a current member of a new work for the Lord, Watermark Fellowship.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 10 AM Saturday, August 27, 2005 with Rev. Gene Ferrell and Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park.
pallbearers will be Mickey Bryce, Jimmy Pleasant, Terry McKinley, Terry Bolton, Ronnie Hinkle and Tim Aldredge. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Gilbert, Rusty Robinette, James White, James Castleberry, Philip Cavalier and Dr. Rob Cary.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The famiy will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 7 PM.
