Billie Lake's Obituary
Billie Lake, 80, of Longview, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 22, at 3:00 PM at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Longview, Tx.
Billie was born on August 24, 1945, in Longview, Texas, to the late Clarence and Margie Brooks. She grew up in Carthage, Texas, where she attended school and graduated from Carthage High School. On August 31, 1963, she married the love of her life, Walter Lake, beginning a 53 year marriage marked by deep devotion, partnership, and joy. Billie and Walter were longtime, faithful members of Terrace Hills Baptist Church and Oakland Heights Baptist Church before joining New Beginnings Baptist Church. At New Beginnings, Billie found her calling in the preschool ministry in 1998 where she served wholeheartedly and eventually became the Preschool Director until she retired. Her gentle spirit, steady faith, and love for children shaped countless young lives and blessed every family she served.
Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Lake; her parents, Clarence and Margie Brooks; Walter's parents, Troy and Theda Lake; brothers‑in‑law Merle Mason and Maxie Lake; and grandchildren Harrison and Ali Steele.
She is survived by her children: Brad and wife Ty Lake of McKinney, Texas; Chad and wife Kim Lake of Longview, Texas; Amy Steele and fiancé Clayton Nunn of Longview, Texas; and Amanda and husband Kyle Moore of Longview, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brooklyn Steele, Makailyn Steele, Garrison Steele, Rylie Lenoir, Parker Lake, Julia Nunn, Hunter Lake, Colt Moore, and Maddox Moore; and her great‑grandson, Kallen Steele. Billie is further survived by her siblings: Johnnie and husband George Harrison of Carthage, Texas; Milton and wife Patricia Brooks of Dallas, Texas; and Sharlene and husband Melvin Cordray of Kilgore, Texas; along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
The family will be at 3108 Swan Dr., and request memorials be made to the Preschool Ministry at New Beginnings Baptist Church, 2132 E. George Richey Rd., Longview TX, 75604
