Charles "Spunky" Creger
Betty and Jake were cherished presences in the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where I was christened and my family were members until moving away from Longview in 1965. They were both active in all phases of church activities and I particularly enjoyed the Sunday School classes she taught when I was growing up. Her family and ours were close for other reasons, including my late brother Billy's romance with Betty's sister Barbara who, ironically, passed away not long after he did. I also spent much time at their home above Georgia's Beauty Shop building model cars with Barbara's brother Sonny (Ray) Meyers. To Charlotte and Phillip, you will be in my thoughts and prayers in the days to come as you grieve the death of your beloved mother. She was special in so many ways and touched many lives. Heaven is an even more special place now that she's there. May God comfort you.
