Betty Kennemer's Obituary
Betty Jean Kennemer, 87, of Longview, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024. Born in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, to DC Etheredge and Lela Blanche Phillips Etheredge, she lived most of her life in Longview, TX. She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. After moving to Longview, she met Jim Kennemer and the two married on November 28, 1958. Betty worked as a secretary for many years at Robbin’s Petroleum and, later in life, she worked at Lifeway Bookstore where she loved sharing God’s word and helping others find the perfect Bible.
Betty attended Oakland Heights Baptist Church and was an active member. Over the years, she was the Fifth/Sixth Grade Sunday School Director, Children’s Division Director, Vacation Bible School Director, participated in Evangelism Explosion, and served on many committees.
If you knew Betty, then you know of her love for Elvis, Dove chocolates (she carried these in her purse and handed them out to others), Coke floats, sewing rice heating pads, making the most delicious carrot cakes, and helping others. Betty was also an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and word searches.
Betty is survived by her children, Jeff Kennemer and Angie Lobue, her son-in-law, Mitchell Lobue, her daughter in law, Amelia Kennemer; grandchildren Kara Holbert and her husband Blake, Kylie Ponder and her husband David, Josh Kennemer and Abby Lobue; great grandchildren Holli, Hannah, and Harper Holbert and Carson and Enslee Ponder as well as sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Kennemer, her parents, DC and Lela Blanche Phillips Etheredge, her brothers, Gerald, Wesley, Douglas, George, Phil, and Charlie Etheredge and her sister Norma Greer.
The family would like to sincerely thank Heritage Hospice for their impeccable and loving care as well as Brookdale Senior Living of Longview and The Rose Residential Care Home of Tyler.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24 at 6:00-8:00 pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home at 10:00 am on January 25th.
