Many years ago, Betty came to the hospital in Dallas for a medical procedure, and I went for a visit. I wasn’t sure if she’d remember me, because I hadn’t seen her since Angie‘s baby shower, but she greeted me as a long-lost friend. She was absolutely charming as we talked about happenings from those passing years, and then, suddenly, her eyes just lit up. She had brought rice bags to give out to her caregivers, and she wanted me to pick one out for myself. I happily obliged! After a lovely visit, we shared hugs and goodbyes, and I started for home. On the drive, I remember thinking what a positive, upbeat visit it was. Thanks, Betty for showing me that positivity and grace are possible even in potentially scary situations. That lesson has stayed with me, as has my rice bag :) I know your legacy will continue to shine in the countless lives you’ve touched over the years, and I pray this knowledge brings your family peace.
