Alice Roberta Morris' Obituary
Alice Roberta ?Bert? Morris, born March 18, 1937, lost her battle with cancer on July 6, 2009. Bert is survived by her sister Jean and her husband Owen Therneau, brother Tom Lay and his wife Alice, nephew Randy Therneau and his wife Vicki, great niece Courtney Therneau, ?cousins? Becky Braden, Sue Grosse-Roman, Darlene Brewer, and Linda Kemp, and her faithful companion, sixteen year old dachshund, ?Cassie?. She was preceded in death by her father Gilbert H. Lay, her mother Alberta Beezley Lay, and husband Frank M. Morris. Bert earned her Master?s of Special Education from the University of Southern California, and spent thirty-eight years as a special education teacher in the Redonda Beach California school district. Upon retirement, Bert moved to Longview, Texas to be closer to her family.
The family of Bert Morris would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Hearts Way Hospice of North East Texas, Dr. Duncan and all of the wonderful people at the Longview Cancer Center, Nell Secord, Daisy Cox, Bettye Thomas and Maria Sartin. Memorial services for Bert will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Longview Cancer Center, Hearts Way Hospice of North East Texas, Highway 80 Rescue Mission, or a charity of your choice.
