Yvonne Lumpkin's Obituary
Elsa Yvonne Lumpkin, 95, passed away peacefully in Longview, Texas October 28, 2025. She was born in Elsa, Texas. She earned her nursing degree at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas in 1950. She married Conway O’Dell Lumpkin (deceased 2001) on June 6, 1951. The Lumpkin’s lived most of their married life in Longview and raised three children, DeLois, Michael, and Mark.
She worked for decades as a registered public health nurse for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, Region 7. She was a passionate political activist, and she volunteered for many years with the Gregg County Democratic Party. She was preceded in death by her mother Edna Wiley, her stepfather L.B. Wiley, and her sister Challie Ann.
She is survived by her daughter DeLois Cheatham, son Michael Lumpkin and his spouse Mark Page, and son Mark Lumpkin and his wife Lisa. She also leaves behind grandchildren Clay Cheatham, Chase Cheatham, Kelley Cheatham, Darby Balderas, and Douglas Lumpkin, as well as 3 great grandchildren, Conor, Mila, and Andres. She was lovingly cared for during the past few years by her daughter DeLois, granddaughter Kelley and Maria Arnold, Janie Darden, Sharon Jackson, and Jackie Malisa Rite.
Graveside services will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview at 1PM, Monday, November 3. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Democrat Party of Gregg County.
