Mrs. Tucker was born September 1, 1929 in Big Spring, Texas and passed way Sunday, February 8, 2015 at her home in Longview. She was a resident of Longview most of her life. She and her husband, Oscar, were born on the same day in the same town, but did not meet until they both arrived in Longview many years ago. Theirs was a marriage that was meant to be.
Retired from Stemco after 20 years of loyal service, Nell enjoyed being “room mother” when children were in school, liked to sew and crochet and was always at the race track to cheer and enjoy the races in her earlier years. She was a very good cook and loved to make people happy. In their later years, Nell and Tiny delivered Meals on Wheels through their church membership and Nell enjoyed line dancing at Senior Friends. She was a member of Hope Community Church at North Side (formerly Northside Baptist Church).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. and Winnie C. Jones, her loving husband Oscar “Tiny” Tucker; her sister, Faithalee Smoot; and brothers-in-law, Bobby J. Ballard, Odell Burkhalter, Jack K. Tucker and Glynn Beaird.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Steve Snider and granddaughter, Emily “Butterfly” Snider; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Fran Tucker; grandson, Brandon Tucker and wife, Mary; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and McKayla Tucker; step-grandson, Shannon Ferguson and his daughter, Bailey and Bailey’s mom, Amanda Ferguson; brother, Billy C. Jones and wife, Wanda; sisters, Barbara Ballard and Virginia Burkhalter; and sister-in-law, Mae Nell Beaird; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
