Services for Woodie Mackey Lucy will be held at Ten O'clock AM Tuesday June 1, 2004 at Alpine Presbyterian Church with Dr. W. D."Bill" O'Neal and Reverend Scott Mackey officiating. Buiral will be in Alpine Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. Lucy was born January 8, in the Omega Community north of Longview to Lester Losson and Winnie Woodall Mackey. She passed away Friday, May 28, 2004 at home
Mrs. Lucy graduated valedictorian from Judson High School and the University of North Texas with a degree in home economics and chemistry. After graduation she worked for Mobil Oil in Dallas. She married Jerry Jospeh Lucy on May 25, 1946 and they returned to College Station where she worked in the chmistry lab while he finished college.
After graduation they moved to Rains and Bowie County where Jerry was a County Agriculture Agent. When they moved back to Longview Woodie became a home economics teacher at East Montain and Judson where she also sponsored many clubs and organiazations. Later she became a fifth grade teacher at Mozelle Johnson Elementary School and introduced new techniques and cirriculums to her classes. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Dar. She was espically interested in traceing the Mackey Family through the early histroy of East Texas. She was a life time member of ALpine Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities.
A loving mother, wife, and grandmother, Mrs. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Lucy, her parents, and her brother Bill Mackey. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth Mann of Allen, her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Randy Moffett of Plano, son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Suzzette Lucy of Longview; and grandchildren, Amy and Julia Mann, Kathy and Lauren Moffett, and Jerrie and Brett Lucy two sisters, Lou Ann Melton and Lynell Myer of Longview, and one sister-in-law, Nancy Mackey, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Ann Lucy and Frank and Betty Lucy.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday May 31, 2004 from 3 pm until 5 pm
