Winona Banks Perkins' Obituary
Services for Winona Banks Perkins of Longview were held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2003, in the Nicholson Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Longview, preceded by interment at 9:00 AM at Lakeview Cemetery.
Mrs. Perkins was born August 25, 1905 in Houston, Texas. She married Charles R. Perkins on May 1, 1926. He and a son, Charles, Jr., preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Albert and Winona Martin of Villanova, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren , Mary Mattison of Houston, Texas, Linda Speer of Westport, Connecticut and John Martin of Lake Mary, Florida and five great-grandchildren, Trey Mattison, David Speer, Christopher
Speer, Michael Martin and Lindsay Martin. She is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, grand nephews, grand nieces and cousins.
Mrs. Perkins had been a member of the Turner Class at First United Methodist Church of Longview for 40 years. She had also been very active in the Magna Charta Dames, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of the American Colonists Sabine River Chapter, Aaron Burleson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, R. B. Levy Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Longview Junior League and the Garden Study Group of Longview. She enjoyed genealogy work and had been a member of the National Genealogical Society and the Texas State Historical Association.
The family received friends and family from 4-6 PM Monday, September 1, 2003 at the funeral home.
