So sorry you're gone. I think about you every day for you were my step -dad and ski buddy. I think about you all the time but lots on the fourth of July. I know you were always saying what was on your mind... haha and that's waht I love about you. I know you are still with us in spirit and I miss that trash truck and all the dinner conversations on manners and you know where the hands are suppose to go.

I just found this site. To the family of Wilmer Willie Dee Cox I send my belated condolences. Growing up with Willie in the early 40's I remember him as an older brother. He will be missed; however, we will enjoy that great reunion with our relatives and most important with our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Dear Family,
Some of the best times of my life were with Willie at Lake Cherokee and at Lake Ouachita in Hot Springs, AR. I am very sad to learn of his passing and because I know Willie, I believe that he is as happy in heaven as he was on earth! He was as amazing man and treated everyone with respect. My love to him and his family.

I will always remember Willie's smile and wonderful, outgoing personality with the largest zest for life!

There are few great pleasures in life and our meeting Willie was definitely one of them. We will cherish the all-too-limited time that we were able to spend with him and Peggy. We will always remember his great smile, his keen sense of humor and his unlimited generosity. But what we will remember most was how he embraced life to the fullest. Wilmer!!! and family - i'll never forget kicking your butt 1 on 1 in b-ball out at the lake. I just remember always feeling at home when I would come to your house. You are one of the kindest men I know and always did your best to make others feel welcome. Ryan.. you know I am here for you if you need me. You have a great father and someone that I am very glad to have known in my life. I first met Wilmer when I returned to Longview in 1973, where my mother took me down Hwy 80 East to get my hair done. Wilmer would cut my daddy's bald head for two dollars. I think they mostly talked. Wilmer was a lot of fun and will be missed by all who knew him.

I will never forget the first time I sat in Wilmer Cox's chair to have my hair cut. He was such a good looking fellow! He was the FIRST to blow dry my hair and I will always LOVE him for teaching me that little trick! His kind spirit and love for others will be a long legacy for his family.
