WILMA JEAN 'BILLIE' RICHARDSON
Graveside services for Wilma J "Billie" Richardson will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10 AM at Winterfield Cemetery in Longview. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. She passed away on Saturday at a local nursing home.
Billie was born January 13, 1924, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Roy and Oma Bolt, and was the third of four children. They came to Texas during the oil boom of the 1930s and settled near White Oak. Billie graduated from East Mountain High School at the age of 16 and attended Texas Women's University, majoring in theatre. On April 12, 1947, she married Eugene Richardson, and they were married for 43 years until his death in 1990. She then moved to Colorado and spent 18 years there before returning to Longview in 2009.
Billie loved fishing and deer hunting as well as cooking. She was famous for her fried chicken and her bacon corn, and there were many times when friends would stop in, hoping to get a sample of them. She was employed by Skelly Oil Refinery, Texas Distributors, and the City of Longview for many years until she finally retired in the late 1980s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, by her parents, by her sisters Bernice and Dorothy and her brother Johnny. Billie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Bob Miller of Lafayette, Colorado; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sheri Richardson of Longview; her son, Randy Richardson of Hartford, Connecticut; her granddaughter, Katie Brown of Longview; and her great granddaughter, Maggie Brown of Longview, along with several nieces and nephews.
