Willis F. ?Will? Masters
A Mass of Christian Burial for Willis F. ?Will? Masters, 83, of Longview will be held at 12 Noon Friday, June 15, 2007 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Father Gavin Vaverek officiating. A Rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary?s prior to the Mass. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Park Mausoleum. He passed away June 12, 2007.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Masters was born May 2, 1924 in Munising Michigan. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and he worked many years as a sales representative for Champion International Paper Company, formerly Nationwide Papers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Houston, Texas. Upon his retirement, he moved to Longview to be near his son, Roger and family.
He was a man of great faith, and was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather. He served our country during WWII in the U.S. Navy and he did it with a great deal of Pride. He was an avid golfer at Oak Forest Country Club, now Oak Forest Sports Club.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Masters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Vera Masters; daughter-in-law Pamela ?Sam? Masters of Longview; grandson, David Masters and wife Shelly of Austin; granddaughters, Sarah Masters and her fiancée Devin Mooney of Denton and Joie Lisa Masters Robinson and husband Scotty of Denton; sister, Ruth Schumacher of Munising, Michigan; brother, Chester Masters also of Munising; and 2 great grandchildren, Rylee and Owen.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to St. Mary?s Catholic School Library, 2108 Ridgewood Dr., Longview, TX 75605
