Willie D. Cox
Mr. Willie D. Cox quietly slipped away from his home, with his daughter and son-in-law, on Friday morning, July 1, 2005, to join his wife, Bonnie Lee Cox, who preceded him in August, 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, July 5, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Dr. W. D. ?Bill? O?Neal officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, July 4, at the funeral home.
Mr. Cox was born July 27, 1913, in Detroit, TX, the oldest son of Ellis Ben Cox and Clara Mae Shaver Cox. In 1956, the Coxes moved to Longview from Clarksville, TX where Mr. Cox served the residents of Texas as a Field Accountant for the Texas Employment Commission until his retirement in 1981.
As long as his health permitted, he was an active supporter of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Clarksville Masonic Lodge and recently awarded his 50 year service pin. Also, he was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Dallas Scottish Rite.
Mr. Cox received his early education in Detroit, TX, where he was active in sports. He graduated from Draughon Business College in Dallas.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Ann Holbrook and Tom Bumpass of Longview; grandchildren, Christi Leann Holbrook Ingoldsby and her husband Chris, of Mill Valley, CA; Libby and Tim Mehrens of Spring, TX; and Tom and Alyson Bumpass of Flower Mound, TX; great grandchildren, Nikki Morin and her husband Robert, Spencer and Hunter Mehrens, Casey, Hayden and Trey Bumpass, and Sophia Ann and Colin Ingoldsby; sister, Mary Cleary of Detroit, TX; brother, Charles Cox of Garland, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
The family is especially appreciative of attending physicians Dr. Kenneth Marshall, Dr. Shoba Shakamuri, Dr. Glenn McDonald, and Dr. George Leatherman; devoted health care givers, Doris Fletcher, Jo Ann Davis, and Brandon Davis; and the caring staff of Longview Davita Dialysis Center.
