William Tucker's Obituary
Funeral services for William "Bill" Tucker, Jr., 76, of Longview, will be held at 4 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the First Christian Church, Longview with the Reverend Phil Jones officiating. Burial will be at Rosewood Park at 8:30 AM Wednesday, October 30, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Tucker died Sunday, October 27, in Longview.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Pearl Lassiter Tucker, his father, William "Mr. Will" Tucker, an infant brother, sister, Sarah Agnes Tucker Millsap, sister Doris Lucille Tucker Lemmens, and sister Margaret Tucker Mitchell.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bettie Jo Johnston Tucker, son and daughter-in-law, William, III "Rusty" and Marilyn Wilson Tucker, son and daughter-in-law, Sidney Carter and Sherry Naron Tucker; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Lee and Anne Balisterrri Tucker; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Tucker, William Connor Tucker, Mackenzie Erin Tucker, William "Will" Stephen Tucker, Patrick Johnston Tucker, and Elizabeth Ann Tucker; sister-in-law, Hope Johnston and her four children, Steven Leon Johnston, Bettie Anne Jones, Martha Lynn Camp and Holly Erin Butter; 14 great nieces and nephews and 5 great great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tucker was born in Fullbright, Texas in 1926, and attended Fullbright and Merkel Schools. After receiving his bachelor of arts degree in 1950, from North Texas State College in Denton, he moved to Longview with his new wife, Bettie, and began his Interior Design career with McWilliams in downtown Longview, September, 1950. In 1970, he founded Tucker Interiors, which he headed until his retirement and ensuing illness.
He was very active in the Texas Chapter of the National Society of Interior Designers NSID during his career, serving as an officer at the state level.
Mr. Tucker was a member of the First Christian Church. His activities there included, committee service, board membership, a deacon and an elder. He was active from the time of his wedding in the sanctuary of the present location, February, 5, 1950, until his illness prevented his regular attendance.
