William "Lee" Stewart III's Obituary
Lee Stewart III was born in Austin, TX November 13, 1950 and passed away with his family by his side on this past Tuesday, April 1.
Lee is survived by his wife Kathy Stevens Stewart and their two daughters, Courtney Stewart Jernigan and husband Jeff of Jackson, MS, and Olivia Stewart of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his parents, Jeannine Stewart Aills, and William LeRoy Stewart, Jr. both of Longview.
Earlier in life Lee attended SMU for his undergraduate, where he was a member of the Lambda Ki Alpha Fraternity. And later he earned his Masters in Engineering at Rice University. He was employed by Eastman as a mechanical engineer until he retired in 2006, and then was by Westlake Chemical from 2006 to 2013. Lee was a member of the ASME Professional Engineers and the national and local Packard Automobile Clubs. He has also been a long time member of First Baptist Church here in Longview.
Lee had a great passion for cars and going to Packard Club meets with his family. He was a loving and caring father who wanted his girls to be well-rounded in the sciences, such as astronomy, entomology, physics, math, chemistry and history. And he himself never stopped learning, and always continued to educate himself. His strongest desire in life was for his wife and girls to love the Lord and be strong independent women. He enjoyed his life by traveling and spending time outside with his family. He truly loved and valued all of his life-long friends. His sense of humor will always be treasured by those who knew him.
Funeral Services for Lee Stewart will be held at Rader Chapel here in Longview at 10am on Friday, April 4. There will be a private family burial at Garden Memorial Park in Ft. Worth, TX to follow. The visitation will be the night before, Thursday, April 3 here at Rader Funeral Home.
