William Solis' Obituary
William Daniel Solis, 84, passed away on June 5, 2026 at his residence in Longview, TX. Bill was born on September 8, 1941 in Port Arthur, TX to the late Gloria Stranahan and Gumercindo Solis.
He was a member of the Catholic Church. He married his best friend Mary Catherine Baggese in 1967. The couple enjoyed almost 50 years of happiness together before her passing in 2016. Also in 1967, Bill earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University. He worked as a veterinarian in Port Arthur at Stadium Animal Clinic where Mary Catherine served as the business manager. Their service to that community gained them many friendships and long lasting relationships. Bill and Mary retired from the practice after 38 years and moved to Longview, Texas to be closer to their daughters and families.
Bill will be remembered as a skilled practitioner of veterinary medicine and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a humble man with a subtle wit, kind heart and calm disposition. He was a trusted confidant of his siblings and daughters and a cheerful presence who will be greatly missed. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and birdwatching and was a skilled woodworker. He loved cooking and especially enjoyed Cajun food.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine, and his parents. He is survived by his daughters Stacey (Douglas) Holder, Angela (Russell) Krenek; grandchildren Brandon, Natalie, Christina and Rebecca; siblings Tom (Barbara) Solis, Pat (Michele) Solis and Susan (Stephen) Bishop; and four nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony will be held in Bill's honor. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Heartsway Hospice in Longview.
