William Russell Cleary's Obituary
Mass of Christian Burial for William Russell "Bill" Cleary, Sr., of Longview, will be 11 AM Wednesday at St Mary's Catholic Church with Father Mark Dunn officiating. Rosary will be recited before Mass at 10:30 AM Wednesday. Interment will follow services in Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at Rader Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 6, from 6 to 8 PM.
William Russell "Bill" Cleary, Sr. returned home on Friday September 2, 2011, 77 years to the day of being baptized. Born on August 12, 1934 in Brockton, MA to Teresa Madeline Cronin Cleary and James William Cleary, Bill graduated from Brockton H.S. and attended Boston University before joining the Army Reserves in the First Calvary Regiment Combat Team. He earned a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration from The University of Miami in Florida where he met Mary Hallam Cole whom he married on April 1, 1960. Bill was blessed with two children, William Russell Cleary Jr. and Kevin Michael Cleary. He was Credit Manager for Dallas Ceramic Tile until moving to Longview in 1978 to work for Axelson. He made many good friends over the years with his good sense of humor and willingness to help and was beloved grandfather, father and husband. Bill was a member of St, Mary's Catholic Church.
Bill is survived by his wife Mary, and son, Bill and wife Kim and grandchildren Brice, Breanna and Brett and a sister, Patricia Cleary of Brockton, Mass. He is preceded in death by his youngest son Kevin.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to Mansfield Arlington Community Gators, a team that participates in Special Olympics, P. O. Box 172792, Arlington, TX 76003.
