William “Bill” Ealey
William “Bill” Ealey, born in Hennepin, OK July 17, 1928, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2008. He was the youngest child of Ben and Myrtle Ealey and is preceded in death by his wife Edie, sister Juanita Perkins, and his three brothers, Elmer, Lawrence and W. L. Ealey.
Bill was a devoted husband and caring father. He met Edie in Longview, Texas and married her on November 26, 1949, sharing his life with her until her parting on August 30, 2005. Together they had a daughter, Sherry and a son Rick. Bill worked 38 years, until retirement, for the American Electric Power Company making a good life for his family and a secure future for his children.
Bill enjoyed fishing with his good friend Richard Porter, and he always kept up with the Oklahoma Sooner’s football team. He was a diehard fan. He passed his love for fishing onto his daughter Sherry and football on to Rick, his son.
He was a member of Winterfield United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Survivors include his daughter Sherry and son-in-law Lance Bridwell of Longview; son Rick and daughter-in-law Carolyn Ealey of Annapolis, MD, and four grandchildren, Lacy and Gavin of Longview and Erin and Allison of Annapolis; and great granddaughter Maddox Shillings of Longview. We will miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Winterfield United Methodist Church with the Reverend Rita Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
