I just heard of Bill's passing and my prayers and thoughts go out to the Payne Family. What a great man he was and a wonderful father and husband. I have many wonderful memories of Bill that are too numerous to mention. My family and the Payne family were good friends but also my mother worked at the bank for Bill for many years. Although the bank changed ownership through her years working there, she enjoyed most the years when Bill was President. Like my brother's post below, I spent so much time with the Payne kids. Their home was always filled with their kids plus the kids friends and was so much fun. I will never forget Lilly and all of the homemade treats she would make for us all. I also enjoyed the many hours of playing basketball in the driveway with Brant and Rev. Billy. The last time I saw Bill was when the Payne family came up from Longview to my dad's funeral. I really enjoyed the visit with Bill and his family and it really meant alot to me and my family.
Kathy, my heart goes out to you for the loss of Johnny and your Dad so close together. Rejoice in knowing that they are together with your Mom, L.F. & Katherine, Mr. & Mrs. Payne and Debbie.
Love to your family,
Carl Gene Coker
I WAS SO SORRY TO HEAR OF MR. PAYNE PASSING AWAY. I CAN STILL REMEMBER AS A KID HANGING AROUND THE PAYNE HOUSEHOLD IN PARIS AND EATING THOSE WONDERFUL MEALS PREPARED BY LILLY{ITHINK THAT IS RIGHT}. MR. PAYNE WAS ALWAYS SO NICE TO ME AND MY FAMILY ESPECIALLY MY MOM THAT WORKED FOR HIM AT THE BANK IN PARIS. MAY GOD BE WITH THE PAYNE FAMILY AND KNOW I WILL BE PRAYING FOR MR PAYNE AND THE FAMILY DURING THIS TIME OF YOUR LOSS.
Dear Payne Family,
Lesa and I extend to you our deepest sympathy on the loss of this Bill. I recall often my mother, a former employee of Citizen State Bank/Paris Bank of Texas, reflecting on the quality of a man he was as an employer. There's no doubt, he has left a legacy in and for each of you. What a blessing you were to enjoy these many years celebrating life together. May God comfort you today and in the days ahead reflecting often on the blessings he brought each of you.
Thoughts and prayers for this family.

I never had the pleasure to meet Mr. Payne but I'm lucky enough to be friends with his son Tim. Tim's love for his family and fierce loyalty to his friends is a true testament to what an amazing upbringing he experienced. Tim has shared countless stories about his father, all filled with love and admiration. My heart goes out to all who knew him.
Dearest Sister,
I wish that I could be with you. My love and thoughts will be with you and your family.
Love always, Yetta levinson Leshin.
