William Paul ?Bill? Montgomery
Longview- Services for William Paul ?Bill? Montgomery, 59, of Longview will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003, at Mobberly Baptist Church under the direction of Rader Funeral Home with Dr. Laney Johnson and Dale Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Park Cemetery. Mr. Montgomery passed away December 6, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born December 20, 1943, to A.C. and Bertha Montgomery, he grew up in Turnertown, Texas, and graduated from Gaston High School in 1962. He married Rebecca McClain in August of 1964. After serving four years in the Air Force, one of which was a tour in Vietnam, he graduated from Sam Houston State University. He recently retired from Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services in Adult Protective Services. A deacon of Mobberly Baptist Church, he actively sang in PraiSingers and P.O.P.S., as well as, being a member several years in Mobberly?s Singing Men.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alma Jo Wood, and one brother, Arthur Montgomery.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Becky; one son and daughter-in-law of Burleson, TX, Steve and Lanna Montgomery; one daughter and son-in-law of Longview, Stephanie and Brent Jones; and one son of Longview, Stacy Montgomery; three granddaughters, Madison and Jordan Montgomery, and Emily Jones; one brother and his wife of Portsmouth, VA., George and Jean Montgomery; one sister and her husband of Gladewater, TX, Rachel and Frank Walker; and one brother and his wife of Longview, Ron and Laura Montgomery. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Koya and his nurse Teresa, Hospice of Longview specifically his nurses Cathy and Barbara and wonderful aide Staci.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 7, from 6:30-8:30 at Rader Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mobberly?s Building Fund, Hospice of Longview, American Cancer Society, and American Heart Association.
