William Thomas Newton's Obituary
On Friday, November 10, 2023, William Thomas Newton, loving husband to his late wife, father and grandfather, passed from this life at home in Longview, Texas.
Tom as he was known by most was born on January 12, 1950, in Star City, Arkansas to William Brown Newton and Iris (Totsie) Hope Newton. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1968. After high school he attended Henderson State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. In his professional life he spent many years as a Salesman in the Equipment and Oil and Gas Industries where he made many lifelong friends along the way. In his later years he enjoyed being employed at the Elderville Water Supply where he was loved by not only his coworkers but the many members of Elderville whom he interacted with on a daily basis.
Tom is survived by his sons Tommy Newton and wife Erika, Andy Newton and fiancé Taylor Lynch and his daughter Katy Holdridge and husband Hunt. Also left to continue his legacy are his grandsons Hilton Holdridge, Haywood Holdridge, Hartford Holdridge, Trey Newton and Nolan Newton who affectionately referred to him as “Boss”. His survivors continue with his sister Karen Newton as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Brown and Totsie Newton and his wife Rebecca Jean Newton.
Tom was a longtime member of Winterfield United Methodist Church in Longview. For many of his adult years he was a member of the Longview AMBUCS where he proudly donated his time. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to AMBUCS of Longview. Tom took great pride in the family he and Rebecca had created and often said his children were his greatest accomplishment. Over the last few years one of his favorite activities was watching his grandsons play on their many sports teams. Tom never met a stranger and cared deeply for all of the friendships he built over the years.
Visitation for Tom will be held at Rader Funeral Home on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 1 pm with the celebration of life to immediately follow at 2 pm.
