William Nelson Padgett, Jr.
Graveside services, with military honors, for William N. Padgett will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 9 at Memory Park in Longview. Mr. Padgett was born January 29, 1923 in Jacksonville, Florida and raised in Savannah, Georgia.
After four years honorable service in the US Navy during World War II Pacific theater, Bill went on to achieve Sergeant?s rank in the US Army while in Korea from 1949 to 1952. As a claims adjuster, he stayed with The Hartford for 20 years and was thereafter employed as a paralegal for Corpus Christi attorney Anthony Constant with the Edwards & Perry Law Firm until retirement in 1986.
Bill survived his only son, Thomas Nelson Padgett, and is himself survived by daughters Tracey Phillips and Terri Fields, their husbands Marc Phillips and Jerry Fields; grandsons Andrew and Taylor Fields; and loving wife of 49 years, Billie Ford Padgett. Bill?s immediate and extended family wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Longview Regional Medical Center for their tender care, support and understanding through a trying time.
Visitation for Mr. Padgett will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8.
