William "Bill" Staggs
William "Bill" Staggs passed away Monday, March 21, 2011. Bill was born November 9, 1929, in Dallas, TX. He is survived by his wife, Julia Ann of 59 ½ years; two daughters, Anne Proctor and her husband Noble of McKinney, TX; Carol Sharpe and her husband Marshall of Fort Smith, AR; a sister, Jan Hammett of Longview; four grandchildren, Connie Todd and her husband Mike of Burleson, TX; Walter Stage and his wife Jamie of DeKalb, IL; Jami Cheshier and her husband Matthew of Springdale, AR; Brannon Sharpe and his wife Sheryl of Colorado Springs; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was a graduate of Pine Tree High School in 1947. Served 3 years in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed at various locations including the Philippine Islands. He graduated from LaSalle University and the Institute of Finance, with extended studies at the University of Houston. Bill completed the appraisal Institute program at SMU and was awarded the Senior Member designation. He held official positions including President and Chairman of the board in the Real Estate Lending field. Bill was the owner of Woodland Appraisal Company and was active in civic and charitable affairs. He especially enjoyed meeting with his couples club for 42 years. He was interested in all sports, especially golf. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and teacher.
A private graveside service will be held for the family at Rosewood Park, Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with a public memorial service afterwards at the First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
