SSGT. William "Hubcap" Barnes, Ret.
Memorial services for SSGT. William "Hubcap" Barnes, Ret., 67, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Jared Greer officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the VFW Post #4002 of Longview. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the funeral home. He passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at his residence in Longview.
Hubcap was born August 6, 1945 in Boston, MA and had been a resident of Longview for the past 12 years, moving from Brockton, MA. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy, the U.S. Army Reserve, the National Guard and the Vietnam War. He was also a service officer of the Longview American Legion Post #232 and a member of the VFW Post 4002 in Longview. Hubcap was a diehard Red Sox fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting and Karaoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Margaret Mumford Barnes and 3 brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Debora Elaine Barnes of Longview; daughter, Hope Barnes of MA; son Christopher Barnes of Longview and fiancée, Britton Barrett of White Oak; grandchildren, Brandon Barnes, Francesca Barnes and Joey Locke all of MA, Dylan Barnes of AR, Britni Barnes, Cassie Barnes and Toby Barnes all of Longview; 1 brother and 2 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 4002, 401 Ambassador Row, Longview, TX 75604.
