An iconic man in our family passed Saturday 11/16/2019 1:45 am. He started seeing my Aunt when I was around 6-8 years old. I am now 62. He was always interested in others and what he could do to help them and be involved in their life. Loved people, family and kids always encouraging, teaching and enhancing in some form or another. Personally he was a beloved uncle, friend, mentor, confidant, at times coworker, a wealth of knowledge, and always a person I could rely on. I know of no one that knew him that could not look back, being sad for his passing, but smile at the memories and presence he had been in their life. Always respected, revered as a great craftsman, known for his honesty, integrity, Love of his family, hard work, ability to solve most any problem, quick wit, positive outlook, being helpful, joking and laughing ( I will never forget Granmaw’s every Christmas Eve or all the fun we had over the years). As I write this tears flowing and Kleenex, after 55 some odd years I still find myself trying to live up to his expections of himself, whether it is opening the car door for my wife more as I had seen him do for Sue so many times or building something that he would be approving of how I had done it. He taught me a trade and so many ways to do things there isn’t enough room to list it all, which I am so appreciative of. I’m sure that Heaven is realizing the great person that we lost in our family and they have gained to their’s....Rest in Peace Eugene Hester.
