William Henry Lyne III's Obituary
William Henry ?W. H.? Lyne, III, a gentleman and honored, beloved patriarch of his family, passed away Nov. 5, 2003. He was 87.
He is a descendent of the founding families of our nation: the Lyne family of Virginia and Louisiana, the Luce family of Massachusetts and the Cullum family of Texas. His great great grandfather was James B. Crabtree, who fought for Texas? independence.
He was born Oct. 1, 1916, and spent his childhood in Houston, where he met and married the one and only love of his life, Mary Ann Greer Enz.
W. H. worked for the Hughes Tool Company for more than a half-century, and spent the last 10 years working in Bahia, Brazil. He was a life member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and a past chairman of the Texas chapter of the American Foundrymen?s Society.
He and his wife retired to Longview in 1985.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years; son William Henry Lyne, IV and his wife Elaine; daughters, Martha Ann Eschenfelder and Fannie Lou Alessandra and her husband, Dr. Patrick Alessandra; his grandchildren, Mary Ann Evetts, Louis Alessandra, Patrick Alessandra, Jr., and his wife, Jill; William Henry Lyne, V and his wife Alison; Mona Lyne and her husband Hans von Rautenfeld, Marie Duckworth and her husband, Clint; and Mark and Paul Eschenfelder; great grandchildren, Megan, David and Michael Evetts, Nicholas Lyne, Julius and Seraphina Von Rautenfeld and Patrick and Julia Alessandra.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Good Shepherd Medical Center and Longview Regional Skilled Nursing Facility.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
He will always be loved, with his memory cherished and preserved.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Forest Park Funeral Home Lawndale, Houston. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 at Forest Park Cemetery Lawndale. Longview arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
