William (Billy) Wayne Arnold's Obituary
William Wayne (Billy) Arnold, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the age of 74, in Hallsville, Texas. Born on July 21, 1951, in Nashville, Arkansas, to Charles Arnold and Mary Evelyn Dyas Arnold, he grew up along with his 6 brothers, Jimmy, David, Eddy, Jerry, Terry, and Johnny. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1969.
Billy dedicated over 45 years to his work at SWEPCO. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to those he held dear. He was a man of strong values who took immense pride in supporting and providing for his family. His love for his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Jones Arnold, was evident in every aspect of their life together. They first started “going steady” in 1969 at Grand Prairie High School. Their two lives became one on July 2, 1971, at Fairview Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. Their 54 years together were filled with lots of laughter, some tears, and countless memories. Billy was a caring father to his sons, Billy Tom and Mike Arnold, instilling in them the importance of hard work, kindness, loyalty, and love. He also dedicated many years to the Hallsville Baseball Association where he enjoyed teaching young men the sport and sportsmanship.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Arnold, and brothers; David, Eddy, and Johnny Arnold. He is survived by his devoted and cherished wife, Liz Arnold, sons; Billy Tom Arnold and wife Sara, Mike Arnold and wife Cassie. Also to carry on his legacy are his grandchildren; Dakota, Kaylyn, Steven, and Abbie; great grandchildren; Levi and Bennett; his brothers Jimmy and his wife Barbara, Jerry, and Terry and his wife Dawn; his sisters-in-law Brenda, widow of Eddy, and Lisa, widow of Johnny; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Billy will also be remembered by co-workers and friends he considered family.
William Wayne Arnold will be missed dearly but will remain forever in the hearts of those he loved. A celebration of life will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
