William "Bill" D. Finley's Obituary
Funeral services for William (Bill) Finley of White Oak will be 10am, Friday, January 5, 2018 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with Reverend Ricky Ricks officiating. Interment will follow services at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service starting at 9am at the funeral home.
Bill was born May 18, 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska to Maynard and Vivian Finley. He graduated from Carthage High School. He then attended Baylor, Texas University, and East Texas State where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. While attending East Texas State, Bill met the love of his life, Wanzelle Cumbie. They married January 21, 1956. Bill honorably served his country in the US Marine Corps and was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division during the Korean War. He was employed by Sears & Roebuck Catalog Division in Dallas for 25 years. In 1984, he moved to White Oak to be a working partner of Professional Land Title Company.
Bill was an active member of the Greggton United Methodist Church, a life-time member of the Longview VFW Post #4002, and a member of the Pythion Lodge.
Those left to cherish Bill’s memory is his loving wife of 61 years, Wanzelle Finley, his daughter Lauran Mueller and her husband Michael, a son, Brad Finley and his wife RoLinda; 3 grandchildren D’Larin, Mark and Ashley, and 2 great-grandchildren Lydia and Elijah.
His daughter D’et Finley, parents and his siblings all precede him in passing.
Bill will be remembered by everyone he knew as “a nice man.”
