William Preston Bell's Obituary
William Preston Bell, 77 years and 4 months old, passed August 6, 2025, at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center, he was born April 6, 1948, in Longview, Texas, at Markham-McRee Hospital.
We would like to thank Drs. Sharma and Taylor with the entire team at Texas Oncology for their dedication to bringing health and hope to their patients. William fought a good fight with faith for over 15 years as he battled cancer with astonishing courage. Where he was supported and cared for by his brother, David and family.
William graduated in 1970 from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Where his love for books and history benefited him greatly as he served the City of Longview as a librarian for many years. His dedicated love of learning inspired his pursuit of Graduate Studies at the University of North Texas in Denton Texas. Williams’ diligence and keen attention to detail were key to his success as a millwright as well.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William Watt, Jr. and Anne Katherine Smith. He is survived by his brother David and wife Pamela, his nephew Kenneth and niece Kathryn, and cousins Jim McCain and Stephen Smith.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Lindale City Cemetery, Lindale, Texas. There will be an online memorial book available to sign at, www.raderfh.com.
