Wenzel W. Johnson, Sr.
Funeral services for Wenzel W. Johnson, Sr., 68, will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at the Longview Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverends John Mooney and Tony Harp officiating. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens, Henderson, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He died Sunday, August 10, M. D. Anderson hospital in Houston.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, August 12, at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born July 16, 1935 in New London, where he resided until moving to Longview 27 years ago. He was a U. S. Army veteran, and served in the Korean conflict. He was employed by Pegues-Hurst Ford in Longview and was formerly an appraiser for McDaniel Quality Body Works. He was a member of the Longview Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Mary Johnson of Longview; sons and daughters-in-law, Wenzel Jr. and Heather Johnson and Gaylon and Tanya Johnson all of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law, Taneen Sebring of Bullard, Twilla and Steve Gray of Hallsville, Cindy and Bubba Skirlock of Bullard, and Wayleen and Scott Sutton of Gladewater; mother, Kirtie Johnson of New London; grandchildren, Tevan and Tera Johnson, Madison and Garrett Johnson, Courtney Sebring, Jerriad Brown, Taylor and Allison Gray, Karissa Annis, Ross Skirlock, and Chase and Ashley Sutton.
Pallbearers will be Ken Griffin, Dan Lake, Mark McDonald, Tim Allison, Donald Hanson, and Spencer Anderson.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Knowles family, the Willis family, Ken and Pat Griffin, the staff at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Eubank Manufacturing, Pegues-Hurst, Ron Pintus, ABC Auto Parts and to McDaniel Quality Body Works.
