Weldon Pittman, Sr.'s Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Weldon Earl Pittman Sr., age 91, who peacefully departed from this world surrounded by loved ones on March 29, 2024. A man of quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and indomitable character, his memory will leave an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Born on January 21, 1933, in Mullin, TX, Weldon was the eldest son of the late Mable Taylor Carlisle and Elzie Pittman. As a proud Texan and American, he answered the call to serve his country as a Security Forces Officer in the United States Air Force during the Korean War in 1950. As a self-taught mechanic, he also dedicated 18 years to the Pine Tree Independent School District before retiring to restore a pink 1958 Nash Rambler.
Weldon's charismatic presence was as unmistakable as his star-spangled suspenders and cowboy hat. With bright blue eyes, a wide smile, and a cackling laugh, he brightened every room he entered. A man of simple pleasures, he found joy in the company of friends and family while hunting and camping, the melodies of the Grand Ole Opry, and the pages of his many, many, many books. For over 66 years, he crafted a wonderful life full of adventures with his beloved sweetheart and wife, Rena Pittman, by his side. Together, they raised their two sons, Henry and Weldon Jr., in a home filled with laughter, kindness, and the echoes of country music.
Weldon was a pillar of his community. Throughout his life, he symbolized the essence of faith and fellowship. He was deeply devoted to the Christian values of service and community within the Greggton First Baptist Church. His steadfast commitment to the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge #1396 and the Eastern Star Pine Tree Chapter #1090 spanned almost five decades, including two terms as Worthy Patron alongside his wife. Whether through his acts of service or words of encouragement, Weldon was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need—as a Chapter Dad in the Order of Demolay, as a charter member of Tusculum Masonic Lodge #86, and as a Shriner in the Hella Shrine Temple of Texas.
Above all, Weldon will be remembered as an adoring husband, loving father, and loyal friend. Weldon is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Conley Sr.; his wife, Rena Pittman; and his eldest son, Henry Pittman. He is survived by his son, Weldon Pittman Jr., his brother, Eldon Pittman; and two grandchildren, Alexandria and Park. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and several friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Weldon's life will be held at the Masonic Lodge #1396 on Sunday, April 07, 2024, from 2pm-4pm, located at 2709 Pine Tree Rd in Longview, TX. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund in his honor.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Weldon Earl Pittman Sr., let us take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to guide and inspire us all. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited at last with his family in Heaven.
